Roadmap
Engineering priorities—not marketing compression promises. Current behavior lives on the format and benchmark pages. Undated items are intent, not a delivery contract.
We refuse slogans like “60% smaller than PNG” without fixtures. This roadmap lists verifiable engineering steps: harnesses, block modes, entropy coding, multi-frame containers, and throughput. Features not merged into default profiles must not activate silently in CLI or web builds.
Phase 1
Compatibility harness
Stabilize classic + vector-v2 with expanded fixtures (alpha policy, odd dimensions, pathological noise).
Phase 2
Block-adaptive triage
Compete classic vs vector vs raw bypass on 16×16 tiles; surface mode histograms in the web UI for debugging.
Phase 3
Context entropy
Replace Deflate-only hot paths with rANS/range coding where wins are measurable—without breaking lossless labels.
Phase 4
Multi-frame .rgbv3dvi
Inter-frame lossless container with keyframes and block motion vectors. Experimental only until flagged stable.
Phase 5
Rust + WASM SIMD
Production throughput for encode/decode; browser path remains a reference, not a batch farm.
